PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hassan Al Hassyan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mesut Varrane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Varrane has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Mesut Varrane told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Varrane stuffs the takedown attempt from Al Hassyan. Al Hassyan gets slowly back to his feet.
Varrane tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Al Hassyan was well out of range. Poor timing from Varrane.
Varrane looks gassed!
Varrane throws a body kick that misses.
Varrane tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Al Hassyan swivels and escapes.

Al Hassyan drives through with a takedown into Varrane's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Al Hassyan not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Varrane really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Al Hassyan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Al Hassyan is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Varrane is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Al Hassyan stands and throws Varrane's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Al Hassyan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Varrane knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Al Hassyan has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Varrane is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Al Hassyan yanks on the arm and Varrane is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Al Hassyan.
