These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adams shoots in looking for a takedown but Popoyan manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Adams's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Adams wants to clinch up but Popoyan keeps it at a distance.
The fighters circling - Popoyan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Popoyan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Adams misses with a takedown attempt - Popoyan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Adams takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

It looks like Lens Adams has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Popoyan tries a head kick but it misses.

Popoyan throws the kick towards the body but Adams avoids it.
Adams is looking to clinch.
Adams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Popoyan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Adams somewhat.
Serg Popoyan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Popoyan connects with a high kick.
Adams fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Popoyan avoids it really well and circles away.

Popoyan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Popoyan avoids a punch combination nicely.
Serg Popoyan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Adams clinches up with Popoyan and pushes him back against the cage.
Adams wants a takedown but no success here.
Popoyan has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Adams drops down looking for an ankle pick but Popoyan pulls his leg out and moves away.

Popoyan lands a big right hand that sends Adams crashing to the mat! Popoyan stays standing though and waves Adams back to his feet!

That has opened up Lens Adams's cut even more.

Popoyan thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Adams if he has to take too many more of those.
Adams looks gassed!
