The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Demidov buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
van Greeven fails with a takedown attempt.
A jab from Demidov finds it's way through van Greeven's defenses.
Demidov moves to clinch but van Greeven breaks away

and van Greeven counters with a shoot takedown. Demidov fights it but they end up in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
van Greeven trying to control but Demidov is working from the bottom.
Demidov wants to stand and escape but van Greeven is having none of it.
Demidov controls van Greeven momentarily but van Greeven frees himself.
van Greeven postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Dick van Greeven hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
van Greeven lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Demidov circles away quickly and effectively.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Demidov wants to get back to full guard but van Greeven has mounted him!

Demidov is looking to improve his position but van Greeven isn't that keen on the idea.
Demidov is bucking up trying to escape but van Greeven cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

It looks like Kaban Demidov has been cut.

Demidov is trying to escape the mount.
van Greeven has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Demidov's face.

Kaban Demidov's cut is getting worse.

Demidov is desperately trying to improve his position but van Greeven has a good base and remains in mount.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Demidov takes a body punch but keeps moving.

van Greeven drives through with a takedown into Demidov's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Demidov is trying to keep van Greeven in close.
van Greeven is working Demidov over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
