Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Veldrane Sengir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fedor Emelianenko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Fedor Emelianenko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Veldrane Sengir!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Emelianenko misses with a body shot

and Sengir counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Sengir trying to control the position from guard on top but Emelianenko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Emelianenko escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sengir gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Sengir throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Emelianenko works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Sengir wants to control from the top but Emelianenko keeps moving.

Emelianenko has his foot on Sengir's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sengir works his way back into a safe position though.

Emelianenko has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sengir can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That was a close round but I would say that Fedor Emelianenko will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Sengir tries to clinch up but Emelianenko circles away and keeps his distance.
Sengir shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Emelianenko sprawls well. Emelianenko wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sengir gets slowly back to his feet.

Sengir closes the distance and clinches up with Emelianenko, looking for a takedown. Sengir pushes Emelianenko against the cage but Emelianenko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Veldrane Sengir hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Emelianenko has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
