Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomes comes to the cage accompanied by Lado B Lado A. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Gomes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Thiago Cunha and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Aldo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Aldo not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Gomes is trying to control but Aldo manages to pass to mount!

Aldo jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Gomes manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Aldo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Gomes is not content to let Aldo control the position.
Aldo advances nicely into full mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Aldo working for a submission but Gomes is keeping him at bay.
Gomes tries to buck Aldo off but he can't manage it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aldo is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gomes can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Aldo trying to control but Gomes is having none of it.
Aldo blocks Gomes's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.
Gomes is looking to get to half guard.

Aldo swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Gomes is now in Aldo's guard. A big mistake from Aldo there, giving up the dominant position!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Gomes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Aldo controls Gomes momentarily but Gomes frees himself.
Aldo tries to strike from the bottom.
Aldo throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Gomes throws a strike but Aldo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Aldo trying to control but Gomes is working from the bottom.
Aldo is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Aldo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gomes manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Aldo has Gomes in his guard.
Aldo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Gomes tries to stand but Aldo is controlling from the bottom.
Gomes has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Jose Aldo has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Aldo fails with the takedown.
Aldo tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gomes swivels and escapes.

Aldo bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Gomes is trying to improve his position.

Aldo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Gomes rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Aldo's guard! Nice work there by Gomes!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Aldo is trying to control the position but Gomes postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Aldo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Gomes lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Aldo has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Aldo and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
No luck for Aldo with that takedown attempt.
Gomes tries to clinch but Aldo is having none of it.
Aldo circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gomes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Aldo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gomes tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Aldo is looking to clinch.
Gomes fails with the takedown.
Aldo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gomes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Aldo somewhat.
Ricardo Gomes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jose Aldo.
Gomes is looking to clinch but Aldo is avoiding it.

Gomes gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Aldo is breathing heavily.

Aldo has gone for a leg lock! Gomes slips out almost immediately though and dives into Aldo's guard.
Gomes throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Aldo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Aldo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Aldo isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Gomes stacks Aldo on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Gomes!
Aldo is looking for a sweep.

Gomes decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Gomes shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Aldo but Aldo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gomes stuffs the takedown.
Gomes fails in his attempt to clinch.

Gomes clinches with his opponent.
Gomes has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Aldo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gomes uses from the top position.

Gomes has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Aldo is proving hard to escape from.

Aldo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gomes defends it easily.
Gomes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aldo on the ground.

Aldo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Aldo wants to sweep but no luck.
Gomes works over Aldo with some ground and pound from guard.
Aldo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gomes is one step ahead there.
Gomes throws a big elbow that misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Aldo controls Gomes momentarily but Gomes frees himself.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Gomes is defending against the submission attempts here by Aldo.

Aldo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Gomes is trying to escape back to his feet but Aldo uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Aldo looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Aldo swings around for an armbar but Gomes sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Aldo's guard.

Gomes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jose Aldo has got the better of the ground game so far.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Aldo is on top in guard.
Aldo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Aldo trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ricardo Gomes is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gomes shoots in but no luck this time.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gomes.
Gomes tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Aldo makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Aldo closes the distance and clinches up with Gomes, looking for a takedown. Aldo pushes Gomes against the cage but Gomes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Gomes darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Gomes tries for a takedown but Aldo sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Aldo misses with a takedown attempt - Gomes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

A left and a right from Gomes both land. Nice combination.

Jose Aldo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gomes shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Aldo as he jumps to the side.
Aldo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gomes tried to score with a low kick but Aldo checks it.
Aldo shoots for a takedown but Gomes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jose Aldo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Aldo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
