The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guy stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Guy wants it to stay on the feet.
Guy digs a good body shot into Koscheck's ribs.

It looks like Aaron Koscheck has been cut.
Koscheck avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Guy throws an ugly left hook that misses

Guy lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Koscheck or not.
Koscheck changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Guy fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Koscheck ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Guy throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Guy connects with a right hand. Koscheck shakes it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Koscheck fails with a takedown attempt.

Koscheck shoots in but Guy avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Guy stuffs the takedown attempt from Koscheck. Koscheck gets slowly back to his feet.
Guy misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Koscheck has closed the distance and engaged Guy in a clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Koscheck's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Guy tries to work over Koscheck's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Guy lands a shot to the body.
Guy lands with a right to the head.

That has opened up Aaron Koscheck's cut even more.

Guy lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Koscheck backwards.

Koscheck is rocked!
Guy swings wildly with an uppercut but Koscheck uses good head movement to avoid it.
Koscheck is still on wobbly legs! Can Guy finish him?
Koscheck blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Guy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Koscheck seems to have recovered his senses.
Guy tries to bum rush Koscheck with a series of wild strikes but Koscheck uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Koscheck ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Guy throws the left hand but Koscheck avoids the punch easily.
Guy lands with a nice body punch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Guy closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Koscheck! Guy dives in looking to finish! Koscheck is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!

Buddy Guy is the new heavyweight champion!
A relieved looking Buddy Guy thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
