The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adolphus closes the distance and clinches up with Kombali, looking for a takedown. Adolphus pushes Kombali against the cage but Kombali circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Adolphus slips under a jab.
Adolphus looks for a takedown but Kombali sprawls well.
Kombali tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Adolphus looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gustavus Adolphus. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Adolphus feints and as Kombali raises his hands in defense, Adolphus changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Adolphus decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kombali, up you get!
Adolphus stuffs the takedown.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Adolphus tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kombali sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Adolphus somewhat.
Adolphus misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Adolphus is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Kombali's half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kombali pushes Adolphus off looking to stand but Adolphus dives back in and keeps control.

Adolphus is trying to work for a kimura but Kombali is defending well.

Adolphus is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kombali is just riding it out for now. Adolphus eventually gives up the hold.
Adolphus is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Kombali!
Adolphus cracks Kombali with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

It looks like Brad Kombali has been cut.

That has opened up Brad Kombali's cut even more.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kombali is looking to improve his position but Adolphus isn't that keen on the idea.

Kombali is rocked!

The cut above Brad Kombali's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Adolphus has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Adolphus loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Kombali scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Adolphus land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Adolphus stands and salutes the crowd.
