PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Studebaker Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hawk comes to the cage accompanied by silver hawk. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Studebaker Hawk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tony Hall!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hawk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Hawk avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hawk misses with a hook
and Hall connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Hall scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hawk doesn't seem bothered though.
Jab by Hall.
Hall bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hall throws a leg kick but Hawk sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Hall gets caught flat footed, as Hawk shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hawk controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Hawk drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hall dives on top into guard.
Hall must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hawk is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hall wants to get up but he can't break Hawk's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Hall really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hawk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hawk controls Hall momentarily but Hall frees himself.

Hall gets to his feet. Hawk looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Hall will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Hall moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Hawk avoids the head kick by Hall.
Hawk looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hall bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Hall pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Hall throws a jab when Hawk was well out of range.
Hawk takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Hawk will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hall misses with a wild combination.
Hall fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Hall looks to land a right hand but Hawk moved out of range.
Hall digs a good hook to Hawk's body.
Hall throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hall lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.

A swing and a miss from Hall.
Hall looks to land a left hand but Hawk moved out of range nicely.
Tony Hall is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hawk displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hall throws out the jab.

Hall takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Hall scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Hawk manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hall on his heels. He'll look to pass Hall's guard now, I'm sure.

Hawk drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hall looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hall looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hall!
Hall controls the position.
Hawk manages to get back to half guard.
Hawk is not content to let Hall control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hall wants to get back to his feet.
Hawk wants to improve his position but Hall is controlling well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hall tries to stand and escape but Hawk is controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Hall ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hawk moves away.
Hawk gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Hall counters with a nice body shot.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Hall.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hawk.
Hawk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Hall as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Studebaker Hawk. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hall connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hawk. Hawk circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Hall throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hall throws a body punch but Hawk moves out of range.
Hall misses the jab.
Hawk with a poor takedown
and Hall counters with a two punch combo.
Hall fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hall wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Hall tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hawk was well out of range. Poor timing from Hall.

Hawk tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hall swivels and escapes.
Hawk fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Hall waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Hawk.
Hall misses with a double jab

and Hawk counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hawk stops Hall from standing up.
Hall is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hall can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hall wants to stand up but Hawk is controlling him.

Hawk drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hall looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hall looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hall!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hall controls the position from side control.
Hawk is trying to improve his position.

Hall stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Hall connects with a crisp jab.

Hall misses with a head kick.
Tony Hall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hall keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hall misses with a few strikes there.
Hall lands with a cross.
Hawk uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hall.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hawk ducks under a wild hook from Hall.

Tony Hall showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Hawk closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Hall is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hawk.
Hall throws a right and a left that Hawk avoids nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Hall. Those never looked like landing.

Hawk shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hall is trying to defend but Hawk finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hawk seems to be looking for submissions.
Hall is trying to get back to full guard.

Hawk wants to take a breather but Hall is having none of it.
Hawk prevents Hall from standing back up.
Hall is not content to let Hawk control the position.

Hall pushes Hawk off and gets back to his feet.
Hawk throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hall's waist but Hall gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hawk off to one side.
Hall connects with an inside leg kick.
Hawk shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hall pinned against the cage. Hall gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hawk looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hall is fending him off so far but Hawk persists. Nope, Hall circles away and we're back to standing.

Hall throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Hawk misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Tony Hall seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hall keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hall throws a solid leg kick but Hawk takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Hall.

Hall clobbers Hawk with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Hall lands a jab.
Hall takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Hawk defending well as Hall loads up on a big left hand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Hawk avoids a punch combination nicely.

Tony Hall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hall winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
