The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carter misses with a takedown

and Anderson counters with a shoot takedown. Carter fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Anderson throwing strikes from guard but Carter blocks nicely.
Anderson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Anderson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Carter is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Anderson is controlling him.

Anderson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Carter.
Anderson is trying to drag Carter to the mat but Carter just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Carter wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Anderson is working for takedown but Carter is calmly controlling the position for now.

John Carter's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at John Carter's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
