Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Maxx Shepard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maxx Shepard has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shepard tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.

Shepard shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jones manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shepard is one step ahead there.

Jones has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Shepard is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Jones.

Jones tries to bench press Shepard off him but Shepard keeps the position.

Shepard decides to stand back up.
Shepard tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it.
Jones shoots in looking for a takedown but Shepard manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jones's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Horrible takedown by Shepard or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones which made him look bad.

Shepard changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Shepard manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones scores with a nice right hand.
Shepard wants to clinch.

Shepard shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Shepard's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maxx Shepard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
Jones throws a leg kick but Shepard sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Jones wants to slow Shepard down by chopping away at his legs.
Jones cracks Shepard with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jones keeps the fight on the outside.
Jones misses with a wild combination.
Shepard fails with an attempt to clinch.

Jones throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Jones lands a jab to Shepard's midsection.
Shepard lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Jones getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Jones stuns Shepard with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Jones looks to land a combination but Shepard avoids it well.
A solid body kick from Shepard.
Shepard fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Shepard will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Shepard tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.

Jones lands a jab-cross combination.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shepard checks a leg kick.
Jones misses with a hook. Shepard ducked under it nicely.
Shepard is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Shepard fails with the takedown
and Jones counters with a two punch combo.

Shepard is rocked!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shepard is defended easily by Jones.
Shepard walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Oh Shepard is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Jones tried to score with a low kick but Shepard checks it.
Shepard seems to have got his legs back now.
Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tom Jones dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Jones gets caught flat footed, as Shepard shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Shepard trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Shepard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Shepard got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shepard has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted.

Jones is looking for a triangle but Shepard pushes his legs off easily.

Jones had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shepard defends it easily.

Shepard has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Jones to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Shepard is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Jones pulls down on the head and he's put Shepard to sleep! This one is all over!

Tom Jones decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
