PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keren Yeger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Argos Bloodfist (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Keren Yeger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Argos Bloodfist!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bloodfist drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yeger looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Bloodfist won't allow Yeger to sweep him here.

Bloodfist stands up and waves to Yeger to follow him.
Bloodfist tries to clinch up.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bloodfist looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Yeger decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yeger prevents Bloodfist from improving his position.
Bloodfist is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Bloodfist trying to hold on to Yeger's head to control him but Yeger postures up.
Bloodfist should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Yeger wants to work for an arm triangle but Bloodfist is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Bloodfist moves in looking to clinch but Yeger pushes him off.
Bloodfist shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yeger but Yeger pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bloodfist changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yeger tries to avoid it but Bloodfist manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yeger to the ground. Yeger escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Yeger wants to clinch but Bloodfist slips to the side
and Bloodfist counters with a three punch combo that has Yeger backing up. Yeger nods at Bloodfist to acknowledge the strikes.

Bloodfist has managed to clinch.
Bloodfist wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Bloodfist tries to pull guard but Yeger won't allow it.
Bloodfist is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Yeger gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Yeger has Bloodfist pressed against the cage.

Yeger tries to pull guard but Bloodfist holds him up against the cage and eventually Yeger drops back down to his feet.

Yeger tries to free his leg and advance position but Bloodfist is retaining full guard.

Bloodfist is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Yeger trying to control the position from guard on top but Bloodfist is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A close round but Argos Bloodfist will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Yeger shoots in but Bloodfist avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Yeger counters with a nice low kick that buckles Bloodfist's knee momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bloodfist wants to clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bloodfist tries for a takedown but Yeger sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Bloodfist shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Yeger pinned against the cage. Yeger gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bloodfist throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bloodfist will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Yeger escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bloodfist gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bloodfist is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Yeger looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Bloodfist is hanging on to Yeger's back as he tries to escape.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Bloodfist's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Yeger can't escape the position.
What can Yeger do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
You can see the frustration on Yeger's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

I really don't envy Yeger right now.

Yeger had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Bloodfist is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Yeger Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Bloodfist's back instead.
Yeger gets his hands free as Bloodfist looks to control.
Yeger struggling to keep hold of the position.

Yeger patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Yeger is not going to allow Bloodfist to sit and survive in this position.
Bloodfist turns into Yeger and is now in his guard.

Well Yeger has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
