PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kenny Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenny Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Andre Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones dives in and scores a takedown into Gracie's guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Jones postures up.
Jones pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gracie is keeping the position for now.
Gracie keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.

Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.

Gracie had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily.
Jones won't allow Gracie to sweep him here.
Jones looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Gracie has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.
Jones passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Jones takes a little break here. Gracie wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Jones wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gracie keeps working.
Gracie manages to work his way to half guard, despite Jones's best efforts.

Jones is trying to control. Gracie wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Gracie gets full guard.

Jones decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gracie, up you get!
Jones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie.

Gracie gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jones could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Jones is breathing heavily.

Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.

Jones got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gracie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jones has managed to get both his arms back between Gracie's legs - danger averted.

Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gracie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Gracie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.

Jones wants to control from the top but Gracie keeps moving.

Gracie working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Jones has passed into half guard!
Gracie tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jones is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gracie doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jones.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andre Gracie dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Gracie shoots in for a takedown but Jones shows good takedown defense.
Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Gracie with a body punch. A glancing blow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Jones at a distance.

Jones decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Andre Gracie has got the better of the ground game so far.

Gracie looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Jones wants to free his trapped foot but Gracie is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!

Gracie sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Jones taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Andre Gracie!
After the fight, Andre Gracie was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
