PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcin Najman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jordan comes to the cage accompanied by Gangnam Style. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Jordan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcin Najman!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jordan gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Najman to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jordan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Najman trying to control but Jordan is working from the bottom.
Najman must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Jordan wants to sweep here but Najman controlling him for the moment.
Jordan controls Najman momentarily but Najman frees himself.
Najman's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Marcin Najman was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Jordan takes a jab right on the kisser.


It looks like Michael Jordan has been cut.
Jordan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Najman tries to avoid it but Jordan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Najman to the ground. Najman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Najman throws the left hand but Jordan avoids the punch easily.
Jordan throws a right and a left that both miss.
Marcin Najman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jab, jab by Najman - just one landing.
A left and a right from Jordan both land. Nice combination.
Najman swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jordan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Najman's waist but Najman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jordan off to one side.
Jordan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Najman jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Najman throws a right and a left that both miss.
Najman wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Najman closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jordan did well to prevent Najman getting side control.

Najman wants to stand but Jordan has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Jordan wants to control but Najman is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Najman seems to be working for a kimura but Jordan defends the submission attempt.

Jordan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Jordan decides to stand back up. Jordan steps back and let's Najman get back to his feet.
Najman just misses with a punch to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jordan is defended easily by Najman.
A decent looking cross lands there for Najman.
Najman connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Najman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jordan fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Najman avoids it really well and circles away.
Najman works Jordan's body with a nice hook.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Najman tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jordan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Najman somewhat.
Najman fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Najman misses with the combination.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Najman throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Jordan counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Jordan drops his hands momentarily and Najman takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
A decent looking cross lands there for Najman.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Najman throws a shot to the body.
Najman closes the distance and clinches up with Jordan, looking for a takedown. Najman pushes Jordan against the cage but Jordan circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
No joy there for Najman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jordan keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Najman.
Jordan closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Najman swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Marcin Najman seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Jordan shoots in looking for a takedown but Najman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jordan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jordan shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Najman sprawls well. Najman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jordan gets slowly back to his feet.
Najman fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jordan avoids it really well and circles away.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jordan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Najman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jordan pinned against the cage. Jordan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jordan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Najman bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Jordan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Najman catches Jordan with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Najman tries to bum rush Jordan with a series of wild strikes but Jordan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Jordan moves in looking to clinch but Najman pushes him off.
Najman throws a right and a left that Jordan avoids nicely.

Najman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jordan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Najman lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Jordan down.

Najman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Najman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jordan is fending him off so far but Najman persists. Nope, Jordan circles away and we're back to standing.
Najman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jordan.

and Jordan counters with a big head kick but Najman shrugs it off.

Jordan trying to control the position from guard on top but Najman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jordan is really struggling to control Najman but he's trying to hold on to the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Michael Jordan has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Jordan walks into a straight right hand from Najman.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcin Najman showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Jordan throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Najman throws a nice looking combination but Jordan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Najman takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Najman will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jordan shoots in looking for a takedown but Najman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Jordan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Najman throws a body punch but Jordan moves out of range.
Najman scores with a jab to the head.
Najman throws a one two combo.
Najman uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Jordan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jordan there as he acknowledges the shot.
Najman fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jordan shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Jordan tries to clinch but Najman moves out of range.
Jordan's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Jordan duly obliges.

Najman jabs Jordan to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Najman takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

Jordan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Jordan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Jordan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Najman's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jordan throws a big elbow that misses.
Jordan stops Najman from standing up.
Jordan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Michael Jordan.
Jordan lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Jordan moves into the clinch successfully.
Jordan is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Jordan tries to stall but Najman uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Jordan is looking to take this one to the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Jordan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Najman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Jordan avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Najman wants to get back to striking at distance but Jordan won't allow it.
Jordan comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Jordan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Najman prevents it.
Najman tries to pull guard but Jordan holds him up against the cage and eventually Najman drops back down to his feet.
Marcin Najman is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Najman is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Jordan gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
