The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva tries to clinch but Njewel moves away
and Njewel counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Njewel missing with a left hand there. Silva was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Njewel sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Njewel is looking to control Silva's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Njewel avoid being mounted?

Silva is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Silva must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Njewel working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Njewel bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Silva's guard.

Njewel postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Silva is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Njewel, into his guard.

Njewel is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Silva defends it well.
