Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stringer Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson has chosen KRS One - Step Into a World as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. John Jackson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Jackson!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Bruno Lombardi and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Stringer Bell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bell slips a jab from Jackson.
Bell misses with a series of wild punches.

Bell jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Nice uppercut lands for Jackson. That snapped Bell's head back.
Bell throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Jackson shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jackson showed some decent athleticism there.

Bell shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Jackson counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jackson throws a right hand that Bell ducks under and follows up with a left that Bell also avoids with ease.
Jackson takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jackson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jackson wants it to stay on the feet.
Jackson dives in and grabs Bell's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bell pushes down on Jackson's head and hops out.
Stringer Bell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Jackson.
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Jackson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jackson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Bell sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bell moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Stringer Bell will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jackson might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Bell has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bell seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Jackson gets to his feet - Bell follows without any prompting.
Bell tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jackson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bell somewhat.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close second round but I would say that Stringer Bell will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Bell bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jackson's head.

and Jackson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bell lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Jackson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Jackson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bell manages to avoid it.

Bell fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Jackson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Bell looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jackson is fending him off so far but Bell persists. Nope, Jackson circles away and we're back to standing.

Jackson is taking a breather. Bell says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Bell wants to get back to full guard.
Jackson is just content to waste time from the top position. Bell takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John Jackson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Bell throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jackson shoots in and drives through. Bell sprawls well.
Bell is looking to wear down Jackson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Bell uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jackson.

Horrible takedown by Jackson or perhaps it was just good defense by Bell which made him look bad.

Bell lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Bell.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Stringer Bell.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bell, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
