PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tomislav Bardic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ali Cali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bardic comes to the cage accompanied by Down With The Sickness. Cali is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Never Say Die. Ali Cali is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ali Cali!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bardic avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ali Cali seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cali stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cali wants it to stay on the feet.
Bardic fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Cali avoids it really well and circles away.

Cali closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Bardic has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cali can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Cali would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Bardic escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cali gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bardic shoots in for a takedown but Cali shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Bardic drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cali looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cali looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cali!
Cali wants to control but Bardic is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Bardic dives in and grabs Cali's left leg, looking for a takedown. Cali pushes down on Bardic's head and hops out.
Bardic defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cali.

Cali ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Cali no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Cali really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bardic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bardic accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bardic drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cali dives on top into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Bardic keeping moving, preventing Cali from controlling successfully.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Cali tries to stand but Bardic is controlling from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Ali Cali hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Bardic drives through with a takedown into Cali's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Tomislav Bardic decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
