Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Shears (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vic Sommers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shears comes to the cage accompanied by Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vic Sommers!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shears will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Sommers swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Shears.
Sommers throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Shears is defended easily by Sommers.
Sommers throws a leg kick but Shears moved away.

Sommers looks to land a combination but Shears avoids it well.
Billy Shears seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Sommers just misses with a elbow thrown towards Shears's brow.

Shears has picked Sommers up - he's going for a ride! Shears dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Sommers tries to get to full guard but Shears has control of the leg.
Sommers is looking to control Shears's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sommers avoid being mounted?

Shears is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sommers doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shears.

Shears is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sommers is just riding it out for now. Shears eventually gives up the hold.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sommers has his hands clasped together around Shears's back. He's all about the action.

Shears drops back looking for a leg! Sommers is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sommers manages to kick Shears off! Shears jumps back into Sommers's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sommers looking for a sweep. Not yet Sommers, not yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vic Sommers dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Shears misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shears throws an overhand right that lands on Sommers's shoulder, as Sommers tries to avoid the shot.
Shears fails to land with a series of punches.
Shears is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Sommers.
Sommers takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Shears with a hook.
Sommers throws a right and a left that both miss.
Shears displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sommers throws out the jab.
Sommers tries a head kick but it misses.
Shears throws the left hand but Sommers avoids the punch easily.
Shears tries to bum rush Sommers with a series of wild strikes but Sommers uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sommers misses with a double jab.
Shears missing with a left hand there. Sommers was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sommers blocks a jab.
Sommers wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Sommers just misses with a punch to the body.

Shears takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Shears is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sommers's half guard.
Shears seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sommers does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Shears wants to free his trapped foot but Sommers is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shears is keen to just control but Sommers is a slippery customer.
Shears is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Sommers reverses the position - he's now on top in Shears's guard.

Shears looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sommers scoring with some ground and pound.
Billy Shears overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sommers with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sommers got a little sloppy there for a moment and Shears has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sommers has managed to get both his arms back between Shears's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sommers passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Shears takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Shears tries to buck Sommers off but Sommers is having none of it.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sommers connects with a nice short shot to Shears's temple.

Sommers thows a huge punch but Shears dodges it nicely.
Sommers winds up and cracks Shears with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Sommers postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Shears bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Sommers and the fight is over!
