PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Gunn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Doug Graves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gunn comes into the arena with Stranglehold- by Ted Nugent blaring out of the sound system. Graves has chosen Alvarez as his entrance music. Doug Graves has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Kyle Gunn's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kyle Gunn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Doug Graves!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Graves's corner calls for a 1-2. Graves obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Gunn takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Graves drives through and clinches with Gunn against the cage.
Gunn is working for takedown but Graves is calmly controlling the position for now.
Graves lands with a light punch inside.
Graves prevents a takedown attempt there.
Gunn wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Gunn. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gunn turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Graves prevents Gunn from improving position.
Graves dodges the ground and pound from Gunn.
Graves can't do much from the bottom here.

Gunn is putting a hurting on Graves here, landing some big shots from side control.

Gunn throws a strike aimed at the side of Graves's head but Graves avoids it well.

Gunn tries for a kimura but Graves is defending well.
Gunn misses with the ground and pound.

Graves manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Gunn won't allow Graves to pass to mount.
Gunn tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Graves has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Gunn tries to reverse the position but Graves maintains control.

Gunn is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Gunn is working hard here to advance position.

Graves punishing his opponent with strikes.
Graves content just to control the position here.
Gunn is looking to get to half guard.
Gunn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Graves trying to control but Gunn is having none of it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Graves content just to control the position here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kyle Gunn will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A good leg kick by Graves.

Graves lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Graves uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gunn.
Gunn misses with a low kick.
Graves lands with a thumping leg kick.
Graves throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Graves missing with a left hand there. Gunn was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Graves throws a leg kick which misses Gunn's front leg but catches the back leg as Gunn tries to avoid it.
Graves scores with a sloppy right hand. Gunn should have avoided that one.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gunn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Graves manages to avoid it.
Graves misses with a body shot.
Graves throws a big shot that misses.
Graves is looking to slow Gunn down with leg kicks.
Gunn drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Gunn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Graves sprawls well. Graves wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Gunn gets slowly back to his feet.

Gunn dives in and grabs Graves's left leg, looking for a takedown. Graves pushes down on Gunn's head and hops out.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Graves - that will leave a mark!
Gunn tries to score a power double leg takedown but Graves sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gunn somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Gunn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gunn fails to land the takedown.
Graves feints and then cracks Gunn's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gunn down.
Gunn has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Graves finds it's way round the side to connect with Gunn's head.
Gunn throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gunn is looking to clinch but Graves is avoiding it.
Gunn bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Kyle Gunn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gunn chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Graves can pounce on him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Graves connects with a single shot there.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Gunn.
Nice straight punches there by Graves. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Graves.


Gunn is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gunn leaves his chin hanging out and Graves seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Gunn crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Our winner, Doug Graves, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
