Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Red Arcinas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Arcinas shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Shields counters with a shoot takedown. Arcinas fights it but they end up in guard.
Shields wants to control from the top but Arcinas keeps moving.

Arcinas has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shields can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Shields postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Shields avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Shields is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Arcinas is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Arcinas has his foot on Shields's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shields works his way back into a safe position though.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round but I would say that Jack Shields will probably get the nod.

and Shields decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Arcinas's guard.

Arcinas pushes a forearm under Shields's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Shields is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
