The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gaggle feints and as Van Kirkland raises his hands in defense, Gaggle changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gaggle trying to control the position from guard on top but Van Kirkland is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gaggle wants to pass the guard but Van Kirkland is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gaggle controls from within his opponent's guard.
Van Kirkland pulls Gaggle in close to prevent any damage.

We're going to have a standup here because Morty Gaggle wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Gaggle closes the distance but Van Kirkland moves to the side
and Van Kirkland counters with a two punch combo.

Gaggle is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Van Kirkland's half guard.

Gaggle looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Gaggle wants to free his trapped foot but Van Kirkland is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Van Kirkland shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gaggle is trying to defend but Van Kirkland finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Gaggle is staying active underneath Van Kirkland, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Gaggle is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Van Kirkland's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Van Kirkland's back!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gaggle throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Van Kirkland's waist but Van Kirkland gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gaggle off to one side.

and Van Kirkland counters with a left and a right... and another left... and another!! That last one turned off the lights! Gaggle has no idea who he is and is as he gazes up at the spotlights. Brutal knockout!
