Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Paul VanSchool!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VanSchool showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hernandez.
VanSchool throws a low kick but Hernandez moves out of range easily.

Hernandez fails in his attempt to clinch.
VanSchool misses with a jab, cross combination.
Paul VanSchool seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
VanSchool will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

VanSchool tries to sprawl but Hernandez drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hernandez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Miguel Hernandez.
Hernandez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Hernandez throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hernandez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Paul VanSchool is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

VanSchool lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
VanSchool connects with a solid leg kick.
Hernandez looks to land a body kick but VanSchool moved away.

Hernandez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but VanSchool moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
VanSchool feints a jab promting Hernandez to slip. VanSchool then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hernandez slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Hernandez lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but VanSchool circles away quickly and effectively.

Hernandez takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and VanSchool counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

VanSchool throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

VanSchool looks to land a combination. Hernandez sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

VanSchool walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Hernandez checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

No joy there for Hernandez, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

VanSchool stuffs the takedown.
VanSchool tries to bum rush Hernandez with a series of wild strikes but Hernandez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by VanSchool.
VanSchool throws a right hand that Hernandez ducks under and follows up with a left that Hernandez also avoids with ease.
This has been an exciting period of action!
VanSchool tries to bum rush Hernandez with a series of wild strikes but Hernandez uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Hernandez wants to clinch up but VanSchool keeps it at a distance.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
VanSchool lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
VanSchool connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
VanSchool comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hernandez feints and as VanSchool raises his hands in defense, Hernandez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
VanSchool is trying to control the position but Hernandez postures up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

VanSchool is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Hernandez rather than just go for the knockout.

Hernandez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has VanSchool pinned against the cage. VanSchool gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
VanSchool lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

VanSchool lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Good leg kick by VanSchool there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Hernandez does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

VanSchool stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and VanSchool wants it to stay on the feet.
