PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bob Bailey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tito Henry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 19 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Bob Bailey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 12 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tito Henry!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Henry misses with a series of wild punches.
Bailey shoots for a double leg takedown but Henry sprawls well. He's pushed Bailey's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bailey doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Henry cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Bailey gets a takedown into half guard.
Henry looks like he's trying to stand up.
Bailey tries to pass to full mount but Henry defends it.
Bailey prevents Henry from standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bailey seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Henry for as long as he can get away with.
Bailey is trying to control. Henry wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

We're going to have a standup here because Bob Bailey wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bailey shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Henry sprawls well. Henry wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Bailey gets slowly back to his feet.

Henry is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bailey is controlling him.

Bailey seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bob Bailey.
Bailey shoots in for a takedown but Henry shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Bailey tries to bum rush Henry with a series of wild strikes but Henry uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bailey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Henry tries to avoid it but Bailey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Henry to the ground. Henry escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Henry swings for the body but Bailey moves out of range.
Henry slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Henry stuffs the takedown attempt from Bailey. Bailey gets slowly back to his feet.
Henry misses with a straight left.
Henry looks to score with a jab to the body but Bailey is just out of range.

Bailey shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Bailey passes Henry's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bailey wants to free his trapped foot but Henry is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bailey tries to pass to full mount but Henry defends it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


The fighters circling - Henry throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Bailey defending well as Henry loads up on a big left hand.
Henry throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bailey ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bailey misses with a takedown attempt - Henry sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Bailey fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Henry to the ground. Bailey is now in Henry's guard.

Henry is looking to work some ground and pound but Bailey has wrist control.

Bailey is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bailey wants to pass the guard but Henry is defending well.
Bailey is trying to control the action in half guard but Henry is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bailey working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Henry throws a hook but Bailey avoids it easily.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bob Bailey just wasn't active enough.

Bailey tries for a takedown but Henry sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Henry rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bailey moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Henry counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Bailey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Henry but Henry pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Bailey moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Bailey fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bob Bailey is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Bailey drives through with a takedown into Henry's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Bailey wants to pass the guard but Henry is keeping the position.

Henry is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bailey is controlling him.
Henry can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Bailey controls the pace.
Henry is looking to stand up but Bailey isn't so interested in that idea.

Bailey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Henry swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bob Bailey has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Henry fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Bailey closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Henry did well to prevent Bailey getting side control.
Bailey working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bailey, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
