The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Conlon has managed to clinch.
Straton tries to pull guard but Conlon holds him up against the cage and eventually Straton drops back down to his feet.

Conlon has Straton pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Conlon pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Straton tumbling to the mat - Conlon dives into Straton's guard.
Conlon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Straton works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Straton is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Conlon is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Conlon has escaped and now he's on top!

Conlon decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Straton, up you get!

Straton tries to move into range but Conlon moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Conlon drops Straton with a beautiful combination! Straton stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Conlon is looking for the KO!

It looks like Mike Straton has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Conlon forces his way into half guard.
Straton seems to have recovered his senses.
Conlon looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Straton with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Conlon works his foot free and advances to mount.
Straton takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Conlon pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Straton is bucking up trying to escape but Conlon cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Straton is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Conlon cracks Straton with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Conlon is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Straton can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Conlon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Straton can do to turn this around?
