Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Francois Van Steyne!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jason Mayhem!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Steyne lands with a kick to the ribs.

Van Steyne throws a head kick that lands with a deafening thwack! The crowd roars as Mayhem stumbles backwards and falls to the mat. Van Steyne follows into mount!


It looks like Jason Mayhem has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Van Steyne is standing up, even though he is in mount.

Mayhem darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mayhem is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Van Steyne defends it well.

Mayhem works his foot free and advances to mount.
Van Steyne knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mayhem on the ground.

Mayhem swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Van Steyne is now in Mayhem's guard. A big mistake from Mayhem there, giving up the dominant position!

Mayhem is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Van Steyne won't allow Mayhem to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Van Steyne stands up from Mayhem's guard - Van Steyne perhaps looking for a knockout.
Mayhem has his takedown stuffed
and Van Steyne counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Mayhem is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Van Steyne throws a head kick that misses.

Van Steyne gets caught flat footed, as Mayhem shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mayhem trying to control but Van Steyne is working from the bottom.
Van Steyne wants to get back to his feet but Mayhem is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Mayhem wants to control from the top but Van Steyne keeps moving.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Van Steyne wants to stand and escape but Mayhem is having none of it.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jason Mayhem hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Mayhem avoids the head kick by Van Steyne.
Mayhem has his takedown stuffed
and Van Steyne counters with a big head kick but Mayhem shrugs it off.


That has opened up Jason Mayhem's cut even more.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Van Steyne gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mayhem to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Mayhem has gone for a leg lock! Van Steyne slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mayhem's guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mayhem looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Francois Van Steyne dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jason Mayhem's cut.
That's time! Van Steyne's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Mayhem tries for a takedown but Van Steyne circles away easily
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
No luck for Mayhem with that takedown attempt.
Mayhem doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Van Steyne counters with a head kick that wobbles Mayhem - left then right he sways and one more bomb from Van Steyne sends him down. This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Francois Van Steyne!
