The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maloy takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Welsh throws a head kick that misses.
Maloy doesn't manage to clinch there - Welsh circles away.
Welsh moves out of range as Maloy strikes.
Welsh lands a high kick to the side of Maloy's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Welsh dives into guard, looking to finish.

Maloy is rocked!
Welsh would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Maloy is still in real trouble! Can Welsh finish him?

Maloy has his foot on Welsh 's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Welsh works his way back into a safe position though.

Maloy ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Maloy no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Welsh has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Maloy seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Welsh ! Maloy is out on his feet! Welsh rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Maloy is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Maloy is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
