The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Taro Takaoka and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hemerijckx stuffs the takedown attempt from Maxwell. Maxwell gets slowly back to his feet.
Hemerijckx has his takedown stuffed
and Maxwell counters with a series of strikes. Hemerijckx will be more careful next time no doubt.
Hemerijckx gets a takedown into half guard.
Hemerijckx wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maxwell keeps working.
Hemerijckx throwing shots but Maxwell is blocking nicely.
Maxwell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hemerijckx. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hemerijckx trying to mount his opponent but Maxwell defends it.
Hemerijckx uses his free foot to push down on Maxwell's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Maxwell.
Maxwell is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Hemerijckx trying to control but Maxwell is having none of it.
Maxwell is working to get back to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Maxwell tries to improve his position but Hemerijckx has taken his back! Hemerijckx has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Maxwell tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Hemerijckx Pushes Maxwell away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
