With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mickey McFinnigan!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McFinnigan missing with a left hand there. Do was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Do looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
McFinnigan won't allow Do to pass to mount.
McFinnigan trying to control but Do postures up.
McFinnigan wants to improve his position but Do is controlling well.
Do thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
McFinnigan trying to hold on to Do's head to control him but Do postures up.
Do takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Do looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Do throwing shots but McFinnigan is blocking nicely.

Do sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. McFinnigan defending well though.

That kick from McFinnigan tenderised Do's leg. Do is trying to keep his angry face on.

Do throws a right hand that McFinnigan ducks under and follows up with a left that McFinnigan also avoids with ease.
McFinnigan looks to land a body kick but Do moved away.
Do takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Do connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed McFinnigan momentarily.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as McFinnigan checks a leg kick.

Do shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McFinnigan napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McFinnigan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McFinnigan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Do's guard.
Do utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Do looking to hit a scissor sweep but McFinnigan is one step ahead there.

McFinnigan stands up over Do, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

McFinnigan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Do is working to avoid the ground and pound but McFinnigan connects with a decent elbow.


It looks like Jonny Do has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Do is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Do manages to work his way to half guard, despite McFinnigan's best efforts.
Do gets full guard.
Do has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
McFinniganis looking to pass into half guard but Do pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Do is in guard.

Do makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Do with a flurry of punches that miss.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mickey McFinnigan hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

McFinnigan is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Do.

Do does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Do throws a series of punches but McFinnigan avoids them all with ease.
Do blocks a head kick by McFinnigan.
McFinnigan stuffs the takedown attempt from Do. Do gets slowly back to his feet.
McFinnigan lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Do showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from McFinnigan.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Do here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
