PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Obtuse Angle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tristan McGrath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGrath has chosen "Out Of Control" - Broken Yoke as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Obtuse Angle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tristan McGrath!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Joseph Jones and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Angle scores with a shot to the body.
McGrath slips under a jab from Angle.
Angle misses with a double jab.
Angle throws a hook but McGrath blocks it.
Angle misses with a body shot.

Angle gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Angle keeping moving, preventing McGrath from controlling successfully.
Angle utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Angle keeping full guard, as McGrath tries to pass.
Angle striking off his back but it's not causing McGrath any problems.
Angle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McGrath on the ground.
Angle is trying to keep McGrath in close.
McGrath slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McGrath preventing the sweep.
McGrath wants to control from the top but Angle keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Angle lands a glancing blow to the side of McGrath's head.
McGrath looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Angle is fending him off so far but McGrath persists. Nope, Angle circles away and we're back to standing.
McGrath fails in his attempt to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Angle throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McGrath shoots in for a takedown but Angle shows good takedown defense.
Tristan McGrath seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGrath is looking to clinch.

A big right from Angle misses.
Angle cracks McGrath with a big right hand and McGrath goes down!


McGrath is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Angle looking to pass the guard.
McGrath is still in real trouble! Can Angle finish him?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McGrath wants to stand up but Angle is controlling him.
McGrath seems to have recovered his senses.
McGrath looks gassed!
Angle trying to control but McGrath is working from the bottom.
McGrath should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
McGrath trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
McGrath keeping moving, preventing Angle from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Obtuse Angle dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


McGrath tries to clinch but Angle moves out of range.
McGrath misses with a takedown attempt - Angle sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Angle thows a left - swing and a miss!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McGrath feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

McGrath works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Angle is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

McGrath decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Angle misses the jab.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Angle catches McGrath with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
McGrath will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
McGrath is breathing heavily.
Angle misses with a hook.
Angle sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through McGrath's defenses. It connects perfectly with McGrath's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Obtuse Angle!
