Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Arturo Gatti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tchin Fortessi!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fortessi swings away with a leg kick that misses.

and Gatti counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Gatti counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Fortessi's guard now.
Fortessi is looking to stand up but Gatti isn't so interested in that idea.
Gatti knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fortessi on the ground.

Fortessi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Gatti wants to stand but Fortessi is controlling his posture from full guard.
Fortessi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gatti is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gatti closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Fortessi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Tchin Fortessi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fortessi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gatti is proving hard to escape from.

Gatti pushes Fortessi off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Gatti counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Fortessi!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gatti stands up from mount. Strange move.

Gatti shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fortessi's guard.
Fortessi wants to get back to his feet but Gatti is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Fortessi looking for a guillotine here but Gatti defends easily.
Arturo Gatti is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fortessi is looking to stand up but Gatti isn't so interested in that idea.
