The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Bass. Valentino does a little dance to reset his feet.
Valentino delivers a nice body kick.
Valentino is looking to clinch but Bass is avoiding it.
Valentino tries to clinch but Bass is having none of it.
Valentino on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Valentino really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bass connects with a nice short shot to Valentino's temple.

Bass is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Valentino is just riding it out for now. Bass eventually gives up the hold.

Bass lands a big shot there that rocks Valentino but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The referee warns Valentino that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Bass is landing with some decent strikes but Valentino is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Valentino is looking to improve his position but Bass isn't that keen on the idea.

Bass is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Valentino can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Valentino tries to clinch but Bass moves out of range.
Valentino seems to have got his legs back now.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Valentino feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Basss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Bass stuns Valentino with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Valentino moves in looking to clinch but Bass pushes him off.

Valentino tries to land knees in the clinch but Bass avoids the damage to the body.
Valentino throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Bass blocks it with crossed arms.

Bass manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Bass tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Bass throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Bass wants the takedown. Valentino is fighting it off but Bass persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Valentino's guard against the cage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bass lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Bass avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bass lands a couple of elbows.
Bass is in close to Valentino's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Bass stands and throws Valentino's legs to the side, diving into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bass lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Valentino down.
Valentino wants to get back to his feet but Bass drags him back down.
Bass cracks Valentino with a big right hand but Valentino just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Valentino tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bass wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Bass has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Bass works to advance to full mount. Valentino defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
