The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Geerts shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Chan as he avoids it easily.
Geerts fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Chan tries for a takedown but Geerts circles away easily

and Geerts decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chan's guard.
Geerts wants to pass the guard but Chan is keeping the position.
Geerts looking to sit in guard and control but Chan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Geerts looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Chan won't allow Geerts to sweep him here.

Geerts throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Geerts looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chan is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Geerts is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chan gets to his feet. Geerts looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Chan lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Chan.
Chan wants to clinch

and Geerts counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chan won't be happy with that.
Chan isn't going anywhere.

Geerts is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Chan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Geerts looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Chan is avoiding damage well.
Chan sneaks back into half guard.

Chan tries to roll over but Geerts keeps him under control.

Geerts is working for a kimura but Chan is defending it quite comfortably.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Yamapi Chan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Davy Geerts.
Geerts takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Yamapi Chan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chan has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Geerts to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Chan is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Geerts pulls down on the head and he's put Chan to sleep! This one is all over!
