Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Walter Sobchak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Salcedo!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salcedo thows a left - swing and a miss!
Salcedo misses with a series of wild punches.
Salcedo throws a series of punches but Sobchak avoids them all with ease.
Salcedo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Sobchak.
Salcedo takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Sobchak bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Sobchak throws a body punch but Salcedo moves out of range.
Sobchak throws a shot from downtown. Salcedo moves away and avoids it.
Sobchak misses with a leg kick
and Salcedo counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Walter Sobchak has been cut.
Sobchak throws a leg kick but Salcedo checks it.
Sobchak dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Salcedo. That did some damage!
Salcedo blocks a low kick nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Salcedo feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Salcedo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sobchak swivels though and keeps the full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Salcedo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Salcedo is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Sobchak pulls Salcedo in close to prevent any damage.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Salcedo throws a leg kick but Sobchak sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Salcedo uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sobchak.
Salcedo avoids the head kick by Sobchak.
Salcedo throws the left hand but Sobchak avoids the punch easily.
Salcedo misses with a lunging right hand
and Sobchak connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Salcedo walks into a straight right hand from Sobchak.

A punch lands to the side of Salcedo 's head but he takes it in his stride.

and Sobchak counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Sobchak has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Salcedo.

Salcedo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sobchak, who protects the arm well.

Sobchak throws a low kick, looking for Salcedo's leg but Salcedo calmly moves out of range.
Sobchak takes a swing at Salcedo's ribcage but misses.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Salcedo.
Salcedo has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Sobchak.
Sobchak ducks under a wild hook from Salcedo.
Sobchak throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Salcedo sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Salcedo is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Salcedo looks to throw the jab but Sobchak is out of range.
Jose Salcedo seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Sobchak scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Salcedo doesn't seem bothered though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Sobchak takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Jose Salcedo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Salcedo waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Sobchak. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Sobchak to the canvas! Can he finish him!?

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Salcedo controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Salcedo wants to control from the top but Sobchak keeps moving.
Sobchak wants to sweep but no luck.

Salcedo has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Salcedo is looking to work some ground and pound but Sobchak has wrist control.

Salcedo postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Salcedo throws a big elbow that misses.
Salcedo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sobchak swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Salcedo throws a strike but Sobchak rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Salcedo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sobchak gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Salcedo controls Sobchak momentarily but Sobchak frees himself.
Sobchak trying to control but Salcedo is working from the bottom.
Salcedo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Salcedo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

A less than humble Jose Salcedo misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
