Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mocha Uson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akihiro Shirasu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mocha Uson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mocha Uson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Akihiro Shirasu!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Shirasu is predictable there
and Uson counters with an outside leg kick.

Shirasu gets a double leg takedown into Uson's guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Shirasu working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Uson's head.
Uson wants to sweep here but Shirasu controlling him for the moment.
Shirasu wants to stand but Uson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Shirasu stays in close to Uson's body and controls the position.

Shirasu drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Shirasu jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Shirasu is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Akihiro Shirasu was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Shirasu tries to clinch but Uson is having none of it.
Uson throws a big shot that misses.
Mocha Uson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The fight stays on the outside here - Shirasu looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Shirasu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Shirasu moves away from the strike by Uson.

Shirasu scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Shirasu wants to stand up but Uson is controlling the position.
Still in half guard, Shirasu seems content to control.

Shirasu is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Uson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Uson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Shirasu is pressing down on Uson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Uson is holding on for now.
Shirasu passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Uson!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Shirasu scoring with strikes but Uson is staying in there.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shirasu gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Shirasu darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Shirasu seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Shirasu lands with a punch from half guard.

Shirasu is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Shirasu passes to side control.

Shirasu working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Shirasu decides to stand back up.

Shirasu shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Uson napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Uson is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Uson tries to bench press Shirasu off him but Shirasu keeps the position.
A lull in the action here as Shirasu stalls from top position.
Uson takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.


Uson is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Shirasu decides to stand back up.
A telegraphed right hand from Uson misses the target.
Uson dodges the punch combination from Shirasu.
Shirasu fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Uson avoids it really well and circles away.
Shirasu darts in trying to clinch
and Uson counters with a stiff right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shirasu shoots in looking for a takedown but Uson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Shirasu's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Shirasu shoots in for a double leg but Uson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mocha Uson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Akihiro Shirasu.
Shirasu shoots in but no luck this time.
Shirasu walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Uson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shirasu.
Shirasu fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Sloppy strikes from Shirasu. Those never looked like landing.

Shirasu tries to close the distance and clinch up but Uson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Shirasu dives in and grabs Uson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Uson pushes down on Shirasu's head and hops out.

Shirasu shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Uson's guard.
Shirasu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Shirasu gets to his feet. Uson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Shirasu is trying hard to land a takedown here. Uson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akihiro Shirasu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Shirasu closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Uson did well to prevent Shirasu getting side control.
Shirasu has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Uson gets full guard.
Shirasu postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Shirasu passes Uson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Uson tries to get to full guard but Shirasu has control of the leg.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Shirasu connects with a nice short shot to Uson's temple.

Shirasu is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Uson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Shirasu.

Uson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Akihiro Shirasu has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Shirasu breaks from Uson's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shirasu is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Shirasu extends the arm and Uson is forced to tap!
