Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Martin Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oleg Oliveira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Diaz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The final bell. Martin Diaz has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Martin Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Oleg Oliveira!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Luis Engracia and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliveira misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Oliveira throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Oliveira shoots in looking for a takedown but Diaz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Oliveira's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Oliveira tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Diaz dives in and scores a takedown into Oliveira's guard.
Oliveira is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Oliveira swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Oliveira is trying to control the position but Diaz postures up.
Oliveira can't keep his opponent in guard - Diaz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Diaz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Oliveira doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diaz.

Diaz is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Oliveira is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Oliveira fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

and Diaz counters with a single leg into guard. Oliveira didn't expect that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Diaz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Oliveira swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Diaz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Martin Diaz dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Diaz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Oliveira tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Diaz is in Oliveira's guard.
Oliveira wants to get back to his feet but Diaz passes into half guard.

Diaz drops back looking for a leg! Oliveira is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Oliveira manages to kick Diaz off! Diaz jumps back into Oliveira's guard.

Diaz stands and steps away. Oliveira gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Oliveira pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Diaz back to the cage. Oliveira follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Oliveira tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diaz swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Oliveira tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Diaz has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Diaz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Oliveira to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Oliveira shrugs it off.
Diaz takes Oliveira's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Oliveira is in trouble.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Oliveira wants to clinch.

Diaz closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Oliveira's guard.
Oliveira controls Diaz momentarily but Diaz frees himself.

Diaz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Oliveira takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Oliveira fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Oliveira napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Oliveira is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Diaz has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Diaz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Oliveira is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Oliveira is looking to reverse the position.
Diaz has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Diaz has control of Oliveira's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Oliveira regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Diaz gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Oliveira throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Diaz's head.

Diaz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Diaz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Oliveira is trying to get back to full guard.

Diaz seems to be looking for submissions.
Oliveira is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Diaz throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Martin Diaz overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Oliveira is looking to improve his position but Diaz isn't that keen on the idea.
Diaz lands a big shot there that rocks Oliveira but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Diaz looking to control but Oliveira is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Diaz, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
