The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patrick bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Patrick working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Patrick is trying to get an arm triangle but Bustamante is defending well.
Bustamante tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Patrick wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Patrick thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bustamante stands up over Patrick, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Patrick is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bustamante is aware though and is defending well.

Patrick has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bustamante can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
