PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Hoffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Maruder Newman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Newman has chosen Stary Olsa - Litvin as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hoffer counters with a nice body shot.
Newman with a poor takedown

Newman showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hoffer.
Hoffer scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

It looks like Maruder Newman has been cut.

Hoffer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Newman on his heels. He'll look to pass Newman 's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Hoffer chips away with some ground and pound.
Hoffer has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Newman is working an open guard so Hoffer takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A right-left combo lands from Hoffer.
Newman has a takedown stuffed.
Jimmy Hoffer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maruder Newman .
Newman tries to clinch there but Hoffer circles away.
Hoffer connects with a looping right hand.
Newman shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hoffer but Hoffer pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hoffer connects with a crisp jab.

Horrible takedown by Newman or perhaps it was just good defense by Hoffer which made him look bad.

Hoffer leaves Newman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Newman looks winded!
Newman takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hoffer lands a jab to the head.
Newman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hoffer is fending him off so far but Newman persists. Nope, Hoffer circles away and we're back to standing.
Newman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Hoffer lands a head shot.
Newman throws a nice looking combination but Hoffer bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hoffer lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Newman has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Newman and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Hoffer throws a good cross that connects.
Hoffer feints a jab promting Newman to slip. Hoffer then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Newman slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Newman closes the distance and pushes Hoffer back into the cage.

Hoffer has clasped his hands together around Newman 's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hoffer is chipping away with strikes.
Hoffer advances nicely into full mount.
Newman is in all sorts of trouble here.
Newman is bucking up trying to escape but Hoffer cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Hoffer with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Hoffer postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Newman in real trouble here! The ref calls for Newman to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
