The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Furzon stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Furzon wants it to stay on the feet.
Furzon looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Furzon tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Syntro paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A head kick by Syntro misses

and Furzon counters by clinching up.
Syntro can't break the clinch.
Furzon prevents Syntro from breaking the clinch.

Furzon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Syntro drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Furzon gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Furzon tries to clinch there but Syntro circles away.

Furzon stuffs the takedown attempt from Syntro. Syntro gets slowly back to his feet.

Syntro shoots in but no luck this time.

Syntro feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Furzon lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Syntro backwards.

Furzon pulls guard.
Syntro with a flurry of punches that miss.
Furzon is trying to keep Syntro in close.

Furzon keeping full guard, as Syntro tries to pass.
Syntro won't allow Furzon to get back to his feet.
Syntro wants to control from the top but Furzon keeps moving.
Syntro must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Furzon pushes Syntro off and gets back to his feet.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Frankie Furzon will probably get the nod.
