Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia swings for the body but Steve moves out of range.
Steve has his takedown stuffed
and Maia counters with a body kick.
Steve drives through with a takedown into guard.
Maia is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Maia kicks Steve off and gets to his feet.
Maia scores with a kick to the body.
Maia misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Steve.
No luck for Steve with that takedown attempt.
Steve looks gassed!
Steve shoots in looking for a takedown. Maia tries to sprawl out of it but Steve keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Maia manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
John Maia has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ossss Steve.
Maia throws a combination. Steve tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Maia will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Maia makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Maia tries to bum rush Steve with a series of wild strikes but Steve uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A nice leg kick lands there from Maia.

Steve fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Maia avoids it really well and circles away.

Maia scores with a hook to the body. Steve takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Steve needs to keep his hands up - Maia had a free shot at his head there.

Maia is looking to wear down Steve with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

and Maia counters with a left and a right that stings Steve.

Maia lands a nice leg kick that just misses Steve's sensitive parts.
Steve is still on wobbly legs! Can Maia finish him?

Whack! Maia lands a heavy head kick that drops Steve. The ref tackles Maia to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Steve was done.
