PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jari Timmonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthias Sieber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jari Timmonen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Matthias Sieber!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Radbod Blank and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Timmonen slips under a jab.

Timmonen closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Sieber is trying to maintain the position but Timmonen is very close to passing his half guard.

Timmonen is taking a breather. Sieber says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Jari Timmonen has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Timmonen pushes Sieber up against the cage in a clinch.

Timmonen has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Sieber clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Sieber looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Sieber tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Sieber wants to control but Timmonen is having none of it.

Sieber is looking to improve his position but Timmonen isn't that keen on the idea.
Sieber is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Timmonen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sieber is looking to escape.

Timmonen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Timmonen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sieber on the ground.

Sieber slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sieber is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Sieber working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sieber has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Timmonen takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jari Timmonen will probably get the nod.

Sieber tries to clinch but Timmonen is having none of it.
Sieber slaps away a takedown attempt from Timmonen, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Timmonen closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Sieber drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Timmonen gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Sieber is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Timmonen to keep the fight standing.

Matthias Sieber comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sieber has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
