Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alex Clay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaun Tomlinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shaun Tomlinson!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tomlinson throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Clay's head.
Tomlinson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Clay but Clay pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Clay shoots in for a double leg but Tomlinson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Clay throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tomlinson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Clay at a distance.
Tomlinson punishes Clay's body with a nice straight punch.
Clay tries to bum rush Tomlinson with a series of wild strikes but Tomlinson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tomlinson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Clay paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Clay is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Clay.
Tomlinson connects with a body shot.
Tomlinson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Clay but Clay pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Tomlinson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Clay tries to avoid it but Tomlinson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Clay to the ground. Clay escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Alex Clay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaun Tomlinson.

Tomlinson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Clay defends it nicely.

Clay closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Tomlinson's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Alex Clay will probably get the nod.

Clay seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Clay has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Tomlinson is proving hard to escape from.

Tomlinson has his foot on Clay's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Clay works his way back into a safe position though.
Clay stands up over Tomlinson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Tomlinson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Clay defends it easily.

Clay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tomlinson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Clay lands a couple of digs.

Tomlinson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Clay gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Clay got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tomlinson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Clay has managed to get both his arms back between Tomlinson's legs - danger averted.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Clay's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Clay throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Tomlinson was covering up waiting for the punch and Clay finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Tomlinson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Clay wants to get up but he can't break Tomlinson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Clay, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
