Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ilia Pogrebets (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ron McDanzing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ilia Pogrebets!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ron McDanzing!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Pogrebets misses.

Pogrebets shoots in and bounces McDanzing off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

McDanzing has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pogrebets can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Pogrebets is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

McDanzing is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pogrebets defends well.
Pogrebets is looking to stand up but McDanzing won't let him.

McDanzing working for a triangle but Pogrebets defends it easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McDanzing controls Pogrebets momentarily but Pogrebets frees himself.

Pogrebets drops back, looking for a kneebar! McDanzing looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. McDanzing looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from McDanzing!
McDanzing wants to stand but Pogrebets is controlling his arm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDanzing is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pogrebets knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
McDanzing postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

McDanzing swings around for an armbar but Pogrebets sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into McDanzing's guard.

McDanzing is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pogrebets is aware though and is defending well.

McDanzing has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Pogrebets has passed into side control.
Pogrebets controls the position from side control.

Pogrebets decides to stand back up. Pogrebets steps back and let's McDanzing get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Pogrebets looking to score a takedown here. McDanzing is defending well but Pogrebets drives through and ends up in McDanzing's guard.

Pogrebets slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Pogrebets drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pogrebets jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

McDanzing is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pogrebets is aware though and is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McDanzing is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Pogrebets postures up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now McDanzing is on top in guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That's time! Pogrebets's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


McDanzing shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pogrebets as he avoids it easily.
McDanzing shoots in looking for a takedown. Pogrebets tries to sprawl out of it but McDanzing keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pogrebets manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A nice combination there by Pogrebets.
Pogrebets swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Pogrebets scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Pogrebets looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for McDanzing!
McDanzing tries to lock up and control but Pogrebets gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
McDanzing is looking to get to half guard.
McDanzing holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Pogrebets tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

McDanzing bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Pogrebets trying to keep a closed guard but McDanzing is proving a slippery customer.
McDanzing is looking to work some ground and pound but Pogrebets has wrist control.
Pogrebets is controlling McDanzing's posture.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Pogrebets is looking to stand up but McDanzing isn't so interested in that idea.

Pogrebets looking to control but McDanzing passes into half guard.

McDanzing seems to be working for a kimura but Pogrebets defends the submission attempt.

McDanzing seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pogrebets does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
McDanzing is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
McDanzing wants to stand but Pogrebets is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

McDanzing looking to control but Pogrebets is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
McDanzing throws some wild stikes that Pogrebets manages to avoid easily.
McDanzing throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
McDanzing tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.

Pogrebets defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from McDanzing.
Pogrebets is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
McDanzing punching from mount but Pogrebets doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
