The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armstrong clinches up against the ropes.

Armstrong lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Ferreira tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Armstrong really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ferreira. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ferreira postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Armstrong is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Ferreira, into his guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Ferreira is pushing down on Armstrong's leg trying to pass to half guard. Armstrong is fighting to maintain full guard but Ferreira has managed to sneak the leg through.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ferreira connects with a nice short shot to Armstrong's temple.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Armstrong fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ferreira has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Gervaso Ferreira wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Ferreira slips a jab and a cross from Armstrong.
Ferreira looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Armstrong is fending him off so far but Ferreira persists. Nope, Armstrong circles away and we're back to standing.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ferreira tries to keep at a distance but Armstrong has taken the fight into the clinch.

Ferreira fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
