Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, BJ Penn!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Hugh Johnson and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
House fails with the takedown.
House is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Penn shoots in looking for a takedown but House manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Penn's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
House slips a jab and a cross from Penn.
House lands a really nice looking cross but Penn seems unphased.


It looks like BJ Penn has been cut.
House delivers a nice body kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Penn.

and Penn counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
House wants to improve his position but Penn is controlling well.

Penn sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
House bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

House wants to get up but he can't break Penn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Penn is not content to let House control the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
House moves in looking to clinch but Penn pushes him off.

Penn changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. House looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Penn rolls, trying to escape but House keeps control of the position.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
House throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Big House will probably get the nod.

House tries to sprawl but Penn drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Penn is sneakily working for an arm triangle but House sees it coming and defends easily.

House utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Penn tries to free his leg and advance position but House is retaining full guard.

House has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
BJ Penn has got the better of the ground game so far.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

House is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Penn defends well.

Big House has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Penn swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and House counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

House manages to break the clinch.
No luck for Penn with that takedown attempt.
Penn misses with a head kick.

House shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Penn pinned against the cage. Penn gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Penn throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around House's waist but House gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Penn off to one side.
Penn stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Penn wants it to stay on the feet.

House changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Penn tries to avoid it but House manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Penn to the ground. Penn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Penn got a little sloppy there for a moment and House has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Penn has managed to get both his arms back between House's legs - danger averted.
