PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Serego Alighiero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Charles Darwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Alighiero might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Snoop DoGG. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alighiero feints and then cracks Darwin's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Darwin down.

Darwin shoots in looking for a takedown. Alighiero tries to sprawl out of it but Darwin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alighiero manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
A looping hook to the body misses from Darwin. Alighiero does a little dance to reset his feet.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Alighiero wants to hold on but Darwin pushes him away.

Darwin goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Alighiero turns into him and now he's in Darwin's guard.
Alighiero will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Darwin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Darwin tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Alighiero cranks the arm and Darwin screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Darwin, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
