Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simon Baker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Johnson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson throws a right hand that misses
and Baker counters with a stiff right hand.
Baker has a takedown stuffed.
A head kick misses from Baker.
Baker scores with a sloppy right hand. Johnson should have avoided that one.
Johnson works the jab nicely.


It looks like Simon Baker has been cut.
Johnson just misses with a punch to the body.
Baker uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Johnson.
Johnson thows a body shot but no joy.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Baker bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Baker closes the distance and clinches.

Baker pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Johnson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

and Baker counters with a single leg into guard. Johnson didn't expect that.

Baker wants to stand but Johnson is controlling the position.
Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Baker is retaining full guard.

Johnson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jack Johnson was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Baker pushes Johnson up against the cage in a clinch.
Johnson tries to stall but Baker uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Baker prevents Johnson from breaking the clinch.

Johnson has Baker pushed against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Johnson's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Johnson is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Jack Johnson.
Johnson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Baker bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Johnson tries to bench press Baker off him but Baker keeps the position.
Johnson seems a little lost for a moment, as Baker dominates the positioning.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Baker content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jack Johnson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Baker closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jack Johnson will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Baker.
Baker throws a predictable looking body shot
and Johnson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Baker displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Johnson throws out the jab.

Johnson looks to throw the jab but Baker is out of range.
Baker takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Johnson stuffs the takedown attempt from Baker. Baker gets slowly back to his feet.
Baker tries to close the distance and clinch but Johnson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Johnson throws a sloppy head kick and Baker moves out of range easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jack Johnson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Baker takes one to the chin there.


Baker is rocked!
Baker walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Johnson swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jack Johnson!
After winning the bout, Jack Johnson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
