Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Will Leander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and AJ Lopez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). AJ Lopez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Will Leander!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, AJ Lopez!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Dillan Fox and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez lands with a nice body kick.

Lopez moves into the clinch.
Come on Leander - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Leander is breathing heavily.

Lopez gets control of Leander's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lopez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Leander could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Lopez has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Leander off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Lopez closes the distance and clinches up with Leander, looking for a takedown. Lopez pushes Leander against the cage but Leander circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Lopez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Leander defends it nicely.
Lopez throws a jab when Leander was well out of range.
Lopez misses with a takedown attempt - Leander sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Will Leander has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of AJ Lopez.

Lopez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Lopez tries for a takedown but Leander sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lopez lands a leg kick that knocks Leander off balance momentarily.
Leander misses with a wild combination.

Leander lands with a shot to the body.

Leander instigates a clinch.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Lopez wants to stall.

Lopez wants a takedown but no success here.
Leander goes for a takedown attempt but Lopez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Leander stuffs the takedown attempt from Lopez. Lopez gets slowly back to his feet.
Lopez tries to close the distance and clinch but Leander swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lopez gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Leander prevents Lopez from getting back to his feet.

Lopez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Leander!

Lopez has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Leander's face.
Leander knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lopez on the ground.

Lopez is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Leander is surviving well by controlling Lopez's body position as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Leander is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lopez postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Leander looks a forlorn figure.
Lopez wants to control the pace but Leander is squirming around nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

AJ Lopez dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Leander shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lopez pinned against the cage. Lopez gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lopez stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Lopez wants it to stay on the feet.
Leander takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Will Leander has been cut.
Lopez shoots in for a takedown but Leander shows good takedown defense.
Lopez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Leander's waist but Leander gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lopez off to one side.
Leander wants to clinch.
Leander dives in and grabs Lopez's left leg, looking for a takedown. Lopez pushes down on Leander's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Will Leander. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Leander swats away the attempt to clinch by Lopez.

Leander leaves Lopez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lopez throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Horrible takedown by Lopez or perhaps it was just good defense by Leander which made him look bad.
Lopez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Lopez tries to clinch up.

Lopez feints and then cracks Leander's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Leander down.
Lopez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Leander is fending him off so far but Lopez persists. Nope, Leander circles away and we're back to standing.

Leander clinches up against the cage.
Lopez is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Leander to keep the fight standing.

Lopez wants to sweep here but Leander controlling him for the moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Leander wants to control from the top but Lopez keeps moving.

Lopez is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Leander frees his head nicely. Oh but Lopez has switched to an armbar! Leander is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
