PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heath Hill (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Davis might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to The End- The Doors. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Davis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Heath Hill!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Damien Edna and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab from Hill.
Davis misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hill throws a shot from downtown. Davis moves away and avoids it.
Hill throws a big shot that misses.
Davis tries to clinch up but Hill circles away and keeps his distance.
Hill misses with an uppercut. Davis saw that one coming.
Davis has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hill finds it's way round the side to connect with Davis's head.


Davis is rocked!

Hill gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Davis stops Hill from standing up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Davis stands and steps away. Hill gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Davis throws a head kick that half lands.
A big left from Hill misses.
Hill throws out a loose jab but Davis uses good head movement to avoid it.

Davis scores with a takedown into Hill's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Davis stops Hill from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis trying to control the position from guard on top but Hill is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Davis stops Hill from standing up.
Hill wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Davis manages to pass to side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Davis decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Hill looks gassed!
Davis throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Hill.

Hill gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Davis prevents Hill from getting back to his feet.
Davis with a nice head shot there.
Davis trying to control but Hill is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davis stops Hill from standing up.
Hill is wriggling around but Davis manages to pass to half guard.
Hill is not content to let Davis control the position.
Hill tries to kick Davis off in order to stand up. Davis Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Davis controlling the position.

Davis decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hill to his feet.

Davis shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hill's guard.
Hill is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Davis dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Davis slips a straight right by Hill.
Davis blocks the body kick.
Hill bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Davis's head.

Davis rushes Hill and presses him up against the cage.
Davis creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Hill wants to break the clinch but can't.
Davis fails to pull guard.
Davis lands an elbow just above Hill 's eye.
Hill tries to break the clinch but Davis is controlling the position.
Davis throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Davis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Davis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Davis.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Davis misses with a head kick.
Hill throws out a loose jab but Davis uses good head movement to avoid it.
Davis scores with a head kick.
Davis throws a sloppy head kick and Hill moves out of range easily.

Davis closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hill to the mat! Hill manages to get full guard.

Davis stands up and waves to Hill to follow him.

Davis decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis content to control rather than advance.
Hill is looking to get back to is feet but Davis passes into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hill is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Davis wants to control but Hill is keeping him busy.
Hill is trying to buck Davis off.
The ground and pound from Davis seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Davis stands up.
Davis moves out of range as Hill strikes.
Hill throws a jab when Davis was well out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Davis keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Hill.
Hill jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Davis looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hill!
Hill is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Davis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Davis dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Davis fails with the takedown.

Davis shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hill's guard.
Davis showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Davis decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Davis has a takedown stuffed.
Davis fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dan Davis. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hill misses with an uppercut.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hill waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Davis.
Hill throws a hook but Davis avoids it easily.
Hill might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Davis shoots in for a double leg but Hill sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A head kick by Hill misses

and Davis decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hill's guard.

Davis stands up from Hill's guard - Davis perhaps looking for a knockout.
Davis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hill misses with a hook. Davis ducked under it nicely.
Davis ducks under a wild hook from Hill.
Davis shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hill pinned against the cage. Hill gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hill slow jab from Davis misses its intended target.

Davis shoots in and bounces Hill off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Davis gets to his feet. Hill looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Heath Hill has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hill takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Hill cracks Davis with an open hand slap.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hill tries to keep at a distance but Davis has taken the fight into the clinch.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Hill.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Davis just misses with a elbow thrown towards Hill's brow.
Davis using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Hill has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Hill breaks from the clinch.
Hill cracks Davis on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Davis falls backwards against the cage. Hill follows up with more strikes that drop Davis to his knees. Hill keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Davis! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Heath Hill!
