Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jerry Flannery (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Flannery's choice of entrance music: Elk Hunt - Trevor Jones and Randy Edelman. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flannery will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cross tries to clinch but Flannery is having none of it.

Cross throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Cross throws a body punch but Flannery moves out of range.
Flannery works over Cross's head and body with a nice combination.
Cross is breathing heavily.
Flannery moves into range and connects with a jab.
Cross misses the shot to the body.
Flannery looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Flannery misses with a series of wild punches.

Cross takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Flannery connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Cross tries to clinch up.
Flannery swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Cross counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Flannery is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cross is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Cross looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Cross. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cross misses with a wild body shot.
Cross tries for a takedown but Flannery sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Whack! Cross lands a heavy head kick that drops Flannery. The ref tackles Cross to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Flannery was done.
