Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Al Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Al Simmons has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Al Simmons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anderson Alves!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Simmons throws a head kick that misses.
Simmons pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Alves avoids a kick to the body.
A punch combination from Simmons misses.
Alves missing with a left hand there. Simmons was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
A head kick misses from Simmons.
Simmons is looking to clinch but Alves is avoiding it.

Simmons takes the fight into the clinch.
Alves blocks the elbow strike.
A frustrated look appears on Simmons's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Alves tries to pull guard but Simmons forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Simmons tries a knee to the head but Alves blocks it.
Alves managing to block the knees to the body from Simmons.
Simmons tries to break the clinch but Alves is controlling the position.
Simmons scores with a shot to the side of Alves's head.

Simmons is looking to break free of the clinch but Alves has double underhooks.
Alves blocks an elbow strike.

Simmons escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Alves lands a jab to Simmons's midsection.
Alves swings away with a body shot that misses
and Simmons counters with a one-two to the body.

Alves shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Alves showed some decent athleticism there.
Simmons is looking to improve his position.

Alves thows a huge punch but Simmons dodges it nicely.

Simmons wants to sweep but Alves has passed to side control!
Alves wants to control but Simmons is keeping him busy.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alves misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Simmons wants to control but Alves postures up.

The ground and pound from Alves seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Simmons avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Alves.
Alves moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Simmons parries the strikes from Alves easily there. Alves is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Simmons to escape.
Simmons might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Alves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Simmons keeps working.

Alves moves nicely into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Simmons tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alves wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Anderson Alves dominated that round.
That's time! Simmons's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Alves throws a body kick that misses.

Alves uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Simmons.
Simmons throws a head kick that misses.
Simmons throws a head kick but Alves moves out of range.
Alves showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Simmons.
A combination from Simmons does no damage.

Alves changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Simmons looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Alves working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Alves wants to lay and pray for a moment but Simmons keeps working.
Alves has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Simmons takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Alves just content to control the position.
Anderson Alves has got the better of the ground game so far.
Alves in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Simmons manages to get back to half guard.
Alves passes the guard and advances to mount!
Alves trying to control but Simmons is having none of it.

Alves looking to control but Simmons is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Alves wants to control the pace but Simmons is squirming around nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Alves avoids the attempt from Simmons to control.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Simmons is wriggling around trying to escape.
The referee warns Simmons that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Alves is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Simmons to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Simmons shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Anderson Alves showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Simmons's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Simmons moves in looking to clinch but Alves pushes him off.
Simmons fails to land with a series of punches.
Alves bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Simmons's head.
Simmons tries to clinch there but Alves circles away.

Simmons checks a low kick from Alves.

so Alves counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Simmons wants to hit a switch here but Alves passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Simmons there!
Alves takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Alves looking to finish Simmons with some ground and pound. This is bad for Simmons!
Simmons keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Alves quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Alves but it's paid off an Simmons is forced to tap! Nice work by Alves.
