Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Connor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Lutinburg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Connor has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Connor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Lutinburg!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lutinburg staying out of range there.
Lutinburg throws a nice head kick!
A low kick from Connor is predictable there

and Lutinburg counters with a head kick that drops Connor!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Connor is looking for a triangle here but Lutinburg uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sloppy strikes there by Lutinburg.
Connor prevents Lutinburg from improving position.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Connor tries to buck Lutinburg off but Lutinburg is having none of it.

Lutinburg stands up.
Lutinburg avoids the body shot from Connor.

Lutinburg closes the distance and clinches.

Lutinburg decides to pull guard.
Lutinburg keeping full guard, as Connor tries to pass.
Lutinburg has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Connor looking to sit in guard and control but Lutinburg gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Lutinburg trying to control but Connor is working from the bottom.
Connor has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Lutinburg has passed into side control.
Lutinburg happy to just control the position for now.

Lutinburg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Connor keeps working.

Lutinburg wants to pass to mount but Connor is defending the position.
Connor tries to roll over but Lutinburg keeps him under control.

Lutinburg moves into full mount! Connor won't be happy about that!
Connor is trying to escape the mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lutinburg controlling his opponent.
Connor is wriggling around trying to escape.
Connor is working hard here to advance position.

Connor wants to control but Lutinburg is having none of it.
Connor tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lutinburg controlling the pace for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lutinburg sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Josh Lutinburg dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Lutinburg shoots in looking for a takedown. Connor tries to sprawl out of it but Lutinburg keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Connor manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Connor closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lutinburg circles away.
Lutinburg bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Connor takes a head kick and keeps coming.
A combination from Connor does no damage.

Lutinburg has closed the distance and engaged Connor in a clinch.
Connor looking for a takedown.
Lutinburg is pressed up against the cage. Connor has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lutinburg down to the mat. Lutinburg avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Connor. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Connor takes a swing at Lutinburg's ribcage but misses.
Josh Lutinburg seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Lutinburg feints and then cracks Connor's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Connor down.
John Connor is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Connor leaves Lutinburg with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Lutinburg lands with a shot to the body.
Connor takes a kick to the side of the head.

Lutinburg scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

A head kick lands from Lutinburg that sends Connor to the canvas. Connor tries to scramble back to his feet but Lutinburg brings him back down into side control.


Connor is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lutinburg tries for a kimura but Connor is defending well.
Oh Connor is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
A lull in the action here as Lutinburg stalls from top position.
Connor seems to have got his legs back now.
Connor is trying to get back to half guard.

Connor seems a little lost for a moment, as Lutinburg dominates the positioning.

Lutinburg stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Connor takes a head kick and keeps coming.
John Connor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Connor fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lutinburg avoids it really well and circles away.
Connor leaves Lutinburg with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
A slapping body kick lands there for Lutinburg.
Connor swings for the body but Lutinburg moves out of range.
Connor throws a poor cross that misses
and Lutinburg makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Connor tries a head kick but it misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lutinburg lands a really nice looking cross but Connor seems unphased.
Connor avoids a punch combination nicely.
Lutinburg tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Connor swivels and escapes.
Lutinburg will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Connor throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lutinburg.
Lutinburg has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A solid leg kick lands there for Lutinburg.
Lutinburg goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Lutinburg closes the distance and pushes Connor back into the cage.

Lutinburg escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lutinburg lands a leg kick that knocks Connor off balance momentarily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Connor swings for the body but Lutinburg moves out of range.
Lutinburg thows a body kick. Connor tries to catch it but that hurt him.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Oooh a lovely combination from Lutinburg sends Connor down but not out. Lutinburg dives into side control looking to finish.

Lutinburg decides to stand up, so the ref orders Connor to his feet.
Lutinburg lands a brutal head kick. Connor looks out on his feet and Lutinburg throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Josh Lutinburg!
